Cape Gazette staff shines in advertising contest

MDDC Press Association announces awards for 2012 efforts

Cape Gazette advertising representatives and graphic artists won 16 awards in the 2012 Maryland-Delaware-D.C. Press Association advertising contest. The awards came in the division that includes non-daily newspapers with less than 15,000 circulation. The Cape Gazette showing in its division also reaped the Sweepstakes Award for the greatest number of prizes.

First-prize honors, in the Restaurant/Entertainment category, went to Billie Criswell, the production staff and Steve Lhotsky for a full-page fresh sheet ad featuring Twinings Lobster Shanty. Chris Rausch and Edwin Krumm took a second prize in that category with their Bethany Blues Super-time ad.

In the Home Furnishings and Appliances category, Sharon Hudson and Edwin Krumm took second prize for their Millman's Appliances Rake In The Savings ad.

In the Jewelry and Accessories category, Amanda Neafie and Kristin Sinnott won a second prize award for their Holiday Greetings ad for Cool Spring Cottage.

Cindy Bowlin and Teresa Rodriguez won first place in the Food Ad category for their Pacific Wines and Spirits ad Our Competition Is Green With Envy.

In the Color Retail Ad category, Bowlin and Sinnott won first place for their Kids Cottage ad Yes.

In the Institutional Ad category, Andrew Thomas , Billie Criswell and the production staff won second prize for their full-page Simply Automotive ad for Meineke.

Sherresha Powell and Cindy Bowlin won first prize in the Real Estate Ad category for a Long and Foster ad.

In the Print Themed Page category, Sharon Hudson won first prize for her Milton Garden Tour ad. In that same category, Amanda Neafie won second prize for her Barkfest ad.

Kristin Sinnott won a first place award for her Tweet and Biz Offers ad in the Print Small Ad category. She also took second prize in that category for her Bead Therapy ad.

In the Special Section category, Jen Ellingsworth, ad staff and production staff won first prize for the Spring Home and Garden section.

Teresa Rodriguez won a first prize in the Print House Promotion category with her Cape Gazette ad in the Rehoboth Film Society program. Her ad was also judged the Best Print House Promotion of all the entries in that category across all divisions. Kristin Sinnott won third prize in that category for her Spice Up Your Feeds ad for capegazette.com.

In the Print Promotion of Newspapers category, Teresa Rodriguez and Norma Parks won a second prize for their Grow Your Business rate card for the Cape Gazette.
