The Lewes Men’s Chorus plus the Tapsation Dancers presented a rousing, spectacular concert May 11 at Bethel Fellowship Hall. The songs chosen for the theme “Oldies but Goodies” were a refection of years gone by. There was a combination of 19 men’s voices, three band members and three Tapsation
Dancers performing.
The program began with a lovely musical overture by Bill Earl, the music director and the band members. Then the men entered the hall to begin their program which included 17 favorite songs, plus solos and quartets, each receiving grateful applause from the audience.
The colorful and beautifully costumed Tapsation Dancers presented three old time numbers loved by all. The traditional singing of “God Bless America” and “Let There be Peace on Earth” concluded the memorable program, with treats of cookies and drinks to follow.
The men’s chorus group was organized 25 years ago in 1988 by Maestro
Bill Earl, then organist for Bethel Church. He recruited interested parties to join what is now the present day Lewes Men’s Chorus. They present two annual concerts, May and December, and many volunteer shows for various service clubs and retirement centers.
