Clayton 'Sonny' Bennett, retired steel worker

Clayton C. "Sonny" Bennett, 83, passed away Friday, May 10, 2013. at home.

He was born in Chester, Pa., Oct. 2, 1929. He was a retired steel worker from Phoenix Steel, and an avid hunter, fisherman and gun collector.

He was married for 65 years to the love of his life, Ethel Marie Ebeling Bennett, who survives him. He is also survived by a son: Carl “Lee” Bennett and his wife, Michelle.

He was preceded by five children: Richard, Johnny, Teddy, Robert and Bill. He is also survived by three grandchildren: Linda Marley and her husband Paul, Crystal Bennett and Bobby Bennett and his wife Lynn; along with great-grandchildren Meghan, Devin, McKenzie, Crystal, Paul Jr. and Erica; and many extended family members and friends. He also leaves behind his lifelong friend, Vince Christy.

Evening calling hours will be held for visitation from 6 until 8 p.m., Wednesday, May 15, at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro. Interment with graveside committal will be held at noon, Thursday, May 16,  at Lawn Croft Cemetery, Ridge Road, Linwood, Pa.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Compassionate Care Hospice, 28467 DuPont Blvd., Unit 6, Suite 6, Millsboro, DE 19966.
