Dover Symphony Makes Waves on the Cape May – Lewes Ferry - “Symphony at Sea – Romance at Sea” Special Cruise aboard the MV Twin Capes
(Lewes, Delaware) On Saturday, May 18, the Cape May – Lewes Ferry will once again host the Dover Symphony Orchestra aboard the MV Twin Capes for a special fundraising event, “The Symphony at Sea – Romance at Sea.” The event, which will take place from 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., is Dover Symphony’s third special symphony cruise aboard a Cape May – Lewes Ferry vessel.
According to Heath Gehrke, Director of Ferry Operations, the ferry service boasts a wide variety of venues for weddings, special events and fundraisers – both aboard its vessels and at its waterfront terminals. “Whether on land or at sea, the Cape May – Lewes Ferry is the perfect venue for special events, like the Symphony at Sea,” Gehrke said. “Not many people can say that they’ve attended a symphony performance on the water. It is a truly special occasion with three hours of great entertainment, relaxing ambiance, and fantastic food. The Symphony at Sea is an event you’ll always remember.”
Under the leadership of Conductor Don Buxton, the Dover Symphony Orchestra will sail into spring by entertaining music lovers during the Symphony’s third annual gala benefit, “Symphony at Sea – Romance at Sea”, aboard the MV Twin Capes. Passengers will be treated to ‘romance’ theme music, including Strauss waltzes, Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet and beautiful tango music by Astor Piazolla. Gary Papp of Essential Chef is catering the event. The musical cruise will also include wine tasting, an open bar, and a silent auction of unique items.
The MV Twin Capes departs at 2:45 p.m. from the Lewes Ferry Terminal for a round trip cruise from Lewes, DE to Cape May, NJ. Admission to this unique fundraiser is $100 or $125 for VIP Mezzanine seating. Tickets are available on a first-come, first-serve basis as the event can only accommodate 140 passengers. All proceeds benefit the Dover Symphony Orchestra. The Dover Symphony Orchestra, Inc., a non-profit organization, is funded through grants, member donations, ticket sales, and community donations. Members of the orchestra represent a wide spectrum of professions and vocations. The Dover Symphony involves itself with many different segments of the community through collaborations with schools and other arts organizations.
