May 15, 2013

Tiara Duffy exploded with four hits including two home runs and a double to lead Cape softball to a 17-0 shutout over Delmarva Christian May 15 on the Vikings' field.  Duffy also scored four runs and knocked in five RBIs to lead the offensive effort as the Vikings' bats came alive for 15 hits.

Riley Shields was the winning pitcher for the Vikings as Hailey Passwaters took the mound in relief in the fifth inning.

The win followed a 6-4 loss to Woodbridge May 14 which saw a Vikings 2-0 early lead eclipsed by three-run innings in the fourth and fifth by the Raiders. Cape closed the gap with runs in the sixth and seventh, but the Raiders held on for the win. Tiara Duffy homered and doubled in the contest.

Cape stands at 6-8 before traveling to St. Mark's, 9-7, for a 3:45 p.m., Friday, May 17 game.  The Vikings will stay at home for the final two contests, playing St. Elizabeth's, 3-10, at noon, Saturday, May 18, and Seaford, 1-15, at 4:15 p.m., Monday, May 20.
