The Cape Henlopen girls' soccer team under first-year head coach Bob Dieterle knew that a great season would finish with a three great teams in Sussex Tech, Polytech and Caesar Rodney, and at least one of those games would have to result in an upset victory if Cape hoped to make the state tournament.

The Vikings lost to Sussex Tech 1-0 on May 7,  then on May 14 lost to Polytech 2-0.

The Panthers improved to 12-2 on the season while Cape fell to 8-5-1.

The Vikings close out the regular season at Caesar Rodney, 13-1, Thursday, May 16.

Amanda Taylor scored a first-half goal for the Panthers while Sarah Hyde scored a second-half goal.

The Panthers outshot the Vikings 10-4 with a 4-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Freshman Olivia Baratto had 11 saves for the Vikings, which included a first-half penalty kick.
