The charity golf tournament to raise funds for Alzheimer’s research, held May 17 at Salt Pond Golf Club in Bethany Beach, raised $6,700. The event was sponsored by the Coastal Sussex Chapter of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association.

Sixty-five players teed up for the shotgun start - best ball event that included an awards luncheon and charity auction at the Cottage Café in Bethany Beach following the tournament.

The winning men’s foursome included Brett Warren, John Eustis, Brian Lord and Bob Burd.

The winning women’s foursome included Elma DiMona, Robbin Murray, Sue Ebbitt and Linda Kauffman.

Jamie Magee, Sussex County coordinator of the Alzheimer’s Association, attended the luncheon and thanked the Sussex NARFE Chapter and the participating golfers for their commitment to raising funds for Alzheimer’s research.

“The need for increased Alzheimer’s research keeps getting stronger, and we are grateful for the support you and this tournament provide us each year,” she said.

NARFE Chapter Alzheimer’s Committee Chair Dick Oliver said, “Every year, this tournament is one of the most affordable and fun charity events in the area. We are grateful for the high quality of sponsorship we receive from individuals and local business and political entities, and the many donations from local restaurants and merchants we receive that are given out as door prizes and auctioned throughout the event. And it’s all for a great cause.”
