Thank you, Dewey Beach Beautification volunteers

June 2, 2013

Many thanks to the volunteers who spent their valuable time helping with the Dewey Beach Beautification effort May 18. Within an hour and a half, the group was able to spruce up the town! The Dewey Beach Civic League is working to replace many annuals with perennials so that the task will be easier each year.

Special thanks to the following folks: Richard and Barbara Cleaveland -registration; Bob Day, Dale Cooke and Beth Wade - Life-Saving Station; Rob Marshall, Zeke Przygocki, Bonnie Kuklis, and Rose Lucas - Holiday Tree area; Betty and Jim Laird - tree areas in the median; Dave and Trish Davis, Beth Wade, Judy Davis and Marie Hutton - planters in the median; Jen Taylor and Joe Cherico - preparing the plant;, Joyce Poole - planting around Town Hall; and Alvin Huffman - the prep before and after the event. Many folks went to several areas and helped where needed. Hooked on Plants also generously contributed goods and delivered plants to various locations.

At 4 p.m., about 40 folks attended the civic league meeting. Members were updated on the activities of the civic league, the town public safety efforts, the Hero program for employees started by Monty, the Nixle emergency communication effort, and then were then treated to a program on the Inland Bays. Dinner and refreshments, donated by The Starboard, followed.

The civic league is currently seeking contribution and memorials for benches, bike racks and banners. Contact us on our new and very much improved web page maintained by Dave Davis and Rose Lucas at www.deweybeachcivicleague.org.
