What's the concern over dragon boat racing?

I enjoyed reading the May 24 article by Henry J Evans Jr. about dragon boat racing in Lewes. I live in The Villages, a 100,000-strong retirement community in Florida that has at least six dragon boat teams. Teams made up entirely of seniors travel all over the southeast, and one even went to China last summer to compete.  Some of the teams perform exceptionally well for their age and beat teams with an average age much younger. Great exercise, I might add.

Sounded funny that Lewes is concerned of damage to their waterfront.
