Dewey offers Family Movie Night and bonfires starting June 17

Family Movie Night starts in Dewey Beach Monday, June 17, with “The Lorax”; the movies continue on Mondays through Aug. 26. Movies will start at approximately 8:30 p.m. on the beach at Dagsworthy Avenue in Dewey.

The summer schedule of dates and movies includes the following: June 24 “Hotel Transylvania”; July 1 “Mirror, Mirror”; July 8 “Here Comes the Boom”; July 15 “Arthur Christmas”; July 22 “Wreck-It Ralph”; July 29 “Brave”; Aug. 5 “The Odd Life of Timothy Green”; Aug. 12 “Oz: The Great & Powerful”; Aug. 19 “ParaNorman” and Aug. 26 “Rise of the Guardians.”

Bonfires will be held on the beach at Dagsworthy Avenue in Dewey from 7:30 to 11 p.m. each Wednesday from June 19 through Aug. 28. Bring the family, beach chairs and some marshmallows.

All metered parking remains in effect; nonmetered spaces are free Monday-Wednesday after 5 p.m.

These events are weather dependent. In the event of inclement weather, cancellations will be determined no later than 7 p.m. on the day of the event for movies and 6 p.m. on the day of the event for bonfires.

Notice of cancellation will be posted at the Dewey Beach Life Saving Station bulletin board. Staff will notify Dewey Beach accommodations of cancellations made prior to the start of an event. If weather is clear, events will take place as scheduled, but may end at any time during due to weather conditions.
