Elizabeth 'Betty' Elliott, dept. of elections appointee

Elizabeth "Betty" Delano Elliott, 89, of Delmar, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2013, at Seaford Center.
She was born July 17, 1923, in Duxbury, Mass., the daughter of the late Harold K. and Jennie T. Delano.
Betty retired from the state of Delaware Treasurer's Office in 1985 after 28 years of service. She was appointed to the Sussex County Department of Elections in 1984 until the present time. She was active in the Delmar VFW Post 8276 Ladies Auxiliary, where she served as president for three terms, a member of the Rehoboth American Legion Unit 5, a member of the Seaford AARP, where she served as treasurer for many years, a member of the Laurel Senior Center and the Delano Kindred.
She is survived by three sons, Jim Elliott (Carol) of Bridgeville, Ronnie Elliott (Dorothy) of Selbyville and Billy Elliott (Pat) of Florence, S.C.; grandchildren, Jay Elliott, Sherry Parsons, Rhonda Ross (Dominic), Renee Maier (Jeff), Ron Elliott Jr., Kim Dodge (Bruce), Tim Elliott; and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace J. Elliott in 1982.
A funeral service will be held Friday, May 31, at 2 p.m., at Short Funeral Home in Delmar. Family and friends may call one hour prior to the service. Pastor Joe Roszin will officiate. Interment will follow the service in St. Stephen's Cemetery in Delmar.
