Beaufait, Reardon sworn to Lewes City Council

Fred Beaufait, center, and Dennis Reardon have taken the oath of office to serve on Lewes City Council. Paul Eckrich, Lewes city manager, congratulates the men after administering the oath May 20, before mayor and council’s monthly meeting.

Beaufait, 76, is beginning his second-term on the panel. He finished with 405 votes in the May 11 election. Reardon, 72, is beginning his first term and  was top vote getter, finishing with 510 votes.

Beaufait said he would continue to be watchful of the city’s budgetary health; and Reardon, a Bay Avenue resident, said he’s committed to open-space preservation. He said he feels good about city council now having a representative from the bayside of the Lewes-Rehoboth Canal.
