Millie Pearl Jones, Townsends retiree

Millie Pearl Jones, 74 of Millsboro, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family Saturday, June 1, 2013, at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes.

Millie was born in Frankford Jan. 3, 1939, daughter of the late Fred Edward and Pearl (Bunting) Hudson. She worked for Townsends Hatchery as a vaccinator for 25 years before her retirement. She had also worked as Sam’s Restaurant in Millsboro for a number of years. Millie enjoyed flowers, listening to country music, traveling to the Shenandoah Valley in Tennessee and collecting salt and pepper shakers. Millie will always be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Lee Jones in 2008; three brothers, Halton, Orrie and Dale Hudson; and a sister, Fredonia Hudson. She is survived by two sons, Richard Jones and his wife Donna of Dagsboro, and Dean Jones and his wife Lesia of Georgetown; a daughter, Gail Morris and her husband Mike of Dagsboro; three grandchildren, Kristina Messick and her husband G.G. of Millsboro, Jessica Jones of Dagsboro, and Travis Jones of Georgetown; two great-granddaughters, Delana Messick and Dakota Dunston both of Millsboro; two brothers, Bleatus Hudson of Delmar, Md. and Norris Hudson of Frederica; and two sisters, Angeline Timmons and Wilsie Donohue both of Millsboro.

A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday, June 5, at the Frankford Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 43 Thatcher St., Frankford. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Interment will follow at Dagsboro Redmens Cemetery in Dagsboro.
