Steven W. Stark, veterans advocate

Steven W. Stark, 64 of Dagsboro, formerly of Oceanside, N.Y., passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family Saturday, June 1, 2013, at his home.

He was born in Oceanside, June 12, 1948, and was a resident there until 2009, when he moved to Delaware.  Steve was a graduate of East Rockaway High School, class of 1966.  He proudly served his country in the Vietnam Conflict from 1968-70.  Mr. Stark retired as a crew chief for American Airlines at LaGuardia Airport in 2008 after 34 years of service.  He was also the co-founder of DSR Consulting Inc.

Steve was a staunch advocate for veterans and veterans affairs.  He was a member of the American Legion Post 24 in Dagsboro, the Veterans of Foreign War, the Disabled American Veterans, the American Legion Riders and the Patriot Guard.  Steve was also an avid fisherman and motorcyclist.

He is survived by his loving wife, Debra Stark; five children, Debra M. Ferrato of Oceanside, N.Y., Daniel W. Stark of Oceanside, Katie L. Graham of Haslet, Texas, Robert B. Haig of Ocean View and Kristin R. Haig of Souderton, Pa.; and 10 grandchildren.

A visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, June 5, at the Ocean View Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 38040 Muddy Neck Road, Ocean View, where an American Legion service will be held at 7:45 p.m.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 6, at the Community Lutheran Church, 30897 Omar Road, Frankford.  Interment will follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.
