Cape AVID coordinator very grateful

June 9, 2013

The following letter was sent to the Cape Henlopen Education Foundation (CHEF) and Lewes-Rehoboth Association of Churches (LRAC) with a copy submitted to the Cape Gazette for publication.

I am writing this letter to sincerely thank you for sponsoring our students on the South Carolina College Tour. They thoroughly enjoyed their visit. We were able to take 28 students on the tour this year. Many of the students are interested in attending the colleges we visited. We visited eight schools (Allen University, Benedict College, ITT Tech, Claflin University, Clemson University, Columbia College, South Carolina State University and University of South Carolina) in four days.

The students were able to tour each campus, speak to admissions counselors and students. I truly am amazed when I get an opportunity to accompany students anywhere. Each time is a more humbling experience for me. The smallest things that I take for granted, usually are the things that our students have never experienced and treasure the most.

I am grateful to you for allowing our students to have this opportunity and exposure. Truly your generosity and commitment to the success of the students here at Cape will never be forgotten. Martin Luther King Jr. said, “Take the first step in faith. You don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.” I want you to know that through your generosity, our students were able to climb a few steps this school year.

Again, I thank you and wish continued blessings upon each of you.
