Joseph G. Anastasi, lifelong painter

Joseph G. Anastasi, 69, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2013, at Beebe Medical Center in Lewes. He was born Dec. 3, 1943, in Philadelphia, Pa., son of the late John and Catherine (Mullen) Anastasi.

Mr. Anastasi enjoyed a lifelong career as a painter in Sussex County. He was affectionately known as a “jokester” by his many beloved friends around town and at Rehoboth Beach VFW Post 7447. He enjoyed playing the slots at Dover Downs, and cheering the Philadelphia Eagles on anytime they were playing.

He especially loved going to the state park with his two black labs, Moe and Joe, and his lifelong friend Carol.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Anastasi was preceded in death by his son, John Anastasi; and two daughters. He is survived by his son, Joseph Anastasi Jr. of Rehoboth Beach; a brother, Jack Anastasi and his wife Bonnie of Arizona; a sister, Elaine Curran and her husband Denny of New Jersey; and his dear friend Carol A. Davis of Rehoboth Beach.

A service will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Lewes.
