Man robs Lewes cigarette store

Troopers are investigating a robbery of the DOT Discount Cigarette store on Route 24 in Lewes about 6:55 p.m. June 8.

Police said a white male suspect entered the store and approached a female employee demanding money from the cash register.  As the 55-year-old employee complied with his demands and opened the till, the suspect pulled a knife from the front pouch of his sweatshirt and held it up to the employee while he removed the money.  The suspect then fled the business on foot heading west. The female employee was not injured.

Police said the suspect was described as 23-30 years old, 6 feet to 6-feet-2-inches tall,170-190 pounds and of average build. Police said he was wearing a dark baseball cap and gray, hooded sweatshirt with Philadelphia Eagles across the front; tan, khakis pants; and dark shoes.
