Edward J. Grohol, known as 'Fast Eddie'

Edward J. "Fast Eddie" Grohol, 59, of Milton, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2013, at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. Eddie was born Dec. 12, 1953, in Hazelton, Pa., son of the late Edward "Buster" Grohol.

Edward, affectionately known as "Fast Eddie" by friends and family, enjoyed a lifelong career as a tractor trailer driver in transportation for a number of local companies. The last 12 years of Eddie's career were as a fleet supervisor with Slusser Brothers Transport in Dorrance, Pa. Eddie and his loving wife Amy relocated to the beach area approximately a year and a half ago to work part time and settle into the "retirement" lifestyle.

Eddie was a dart enthusiast and especially enjoyed time spent playing at the Eckley Club House in Eckley, Pa. He was also an avid freshwater fisherman and camper. Eddie loved spending time on the local beaches walking with his beloved German Shepherd, Roxy. Family life was important to Eddie. He never missed an opportunity to watch his son and daughter play sports. Eddie will be remembered as a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend to many.

Eddie is survived by his wife of 35 years, Amy M. (Deiterich) Grohol; his son Jesse Grohol of Key West, Fla.; his daughter Allison Grohol of Blakesly, Pa.; two sisters: Gloria Grego of Cape Coral, Fla. and Tina Steiner of Ft. Myers, Fla.; his mother Helen (Yesilonis) Howells of Ft. Myers; and numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.

All services will be private. Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Eddie’s memory may be made to Lewes Church of Christ, 15183 Coastal Highway, Milton, DE 19968.
