Shirley L. Roberts, enjoyed cooking, traveling

Shirley Louise Roberts, 83, of Lewes, passed away peacefully Sunday, June 9, 2013, at Brandywine Assisted Living, Rehoboth Beach. She was born in Washington, D.C., Dec. 6, 1929, daughter of the late John and Eva (Kaus) Stansbury.

Mrs. Roberts graduated from Eastern Senior High School, Washington, D.C. Following graduation she worked for the Government Printing Office before meeting the love of her life, Bobby L. Roberts, whom she would marry and start a beautiful family with. In addition to raising her family, Mrs. Roberts often worked alongside her husband at the family business, Roberts Dry Cleaning, located in Cherry Hill, Md.

When Mrs. Roberts found free time she enjoyed cooking and traveling, and going to theatrical shows. She also greatly enjoyed sitting on her back porch and opening up a good book to read and listening to the birds chirping in the background. Mrs. Roberts will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who will be missed by all whom knew her.

Mrs. Roberts is survived by her husband of 63 years, Bob; one son: John Roberts and his wife Kim, of Haddonfield, N.J.; two daughters: Donna Istvan and her husband Steve, of Crofton, Md. and Laura DeMarr and her husband Bill of Alpharetta, Ga.; six grandchidren: Kim Swann and her husband Todd, Erin Burriss and her husband Kyle, Ross Istvan, Lisa DeMarr, Lauren Roberts and Jack Roberts; and two great-grandchildren: T.J. Swann and Lindy Swann.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, June 14, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Hwy., Lewes, where friends may call beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will immediately follow at Henlopen Memorial Park, Milton.

The family welcomes flowers to be sent in Mrs. Roberts’ name.
