Pedestrian struck in slow-moving traffic

June 18, 2013

A 24-year-old Millsboro man was struck June 17 as he tried to cross Route 1 in heavy, slow-moving traffic, police say.

Jerry E. Henry was crossing the northbound lanes near Chick-fil-A at 1:20 p.m. when a 2001 Jeep Cherokee driven by George A. Sibert, 31, of Wilmington struck him in the right turn/bus lane, said Cpl. Gary Fournier of the Delaware State Police.

The impact threw Henry to the ground; he was taken to Beebe Medical Center and treated for nonlife-threatening injuries.

Sibert and his 21-year-old passenger were not injured in the crash. No citations were issued, Fournier said.
