Walter F. Toomey, poultry farmer

Mr. Walter F. Toomey, 69, of Laurel, passed away Sunday, May 16, 2013.

Mr. Toomey was born July 2, 1943, in Millsboro to the late Thomas A. and Ethel M. Downs Toomey. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by siblings Ethel Morgan, Robert A. Toomey and Frederick Toomey; son-in-law, John Mitchell; and a granddaughter, Casey L. Toomey.

He was a poultry farmer for most of his life. He enjoyed clamming, crabbing, family barbecues, and just sitting back and telling stories.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ollie M. Toomey of Laurel; four daughters, Kathy A. Toomey of Laurel, Ethel M. Mitchell of Millsboro, Lori A. Toomey and her fiance’ Lonnie Hensley of Laurel, and Theresa A. Jenkins and her husband Paul of Millsboro; brothers, Kennard L. Toomey of Willards, Md. and Daniel Toomey of Liberty, N.C.; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

Services and burial will be private. Arrangements by Watson Funeral Home, Millsboro.
