A 31-year-old Lewes man faces robbery charges after police say he robbed the DOT Discount Cigarette in Lewes June 8.

Police used surveillance tape and received several tips to narrow down their search for the robber; they executed a search warrant June 20  at the home of James C. Rogers in the 34000 block of Yoshino Drive in Lewes, said Cpl. Gary Fournier of the Delaware State Police.

Inside Rogers' home, Fournier said police found items linked to the robbery including a baseball cap, white-framed sunglasses and a knife. Police also found several hypodermic needles, he said.

Rogers was hiding in a bathroom; he was taken into custody without incident, Fournier said.

Police charged him with first-degree robbery, possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, wearing a disguise during the commission of a felony and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $107,500 cash bond.
