Louis P. Hauck Jr., active in Grace Church

Mr. Louis Philip Hauck Jr. of Atlantic Shores Rehabilitation and Health Center in Millsboro, formerly of Georgetown, passed away Wednesday, June 19, 2013.

Mr. Hauck was born Feb. 9, 1922 in Jacksonville, Ill., the son of the late Louis Philip Hauck Sr. and Marion Williamson Hauck. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by a brother, David W. Hauck.

After graduating high school, he went to work for Swift & Co. in Jacksonville. He worked in accounting for Swift & Co. as office manager in six company field units before being transferred in April 1951 to the Georgetown office of Swift.

Phil was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Georgetown where he served as lay leader, treasurer, sang in the choir and taught Sunday school. He was past president of the Georgetown Kiwanis Club where he served for many years as secretary, and was a past lieutenant governor of Kiwanis Division 11. He was also an Army veteran of World War II in the 33rd Infantry Division serving in the Pacific Theatre, including New Guinea, The Dutch East Indies, Luzon in the Philippines and with occupation troops in Japan. He was a member of the VFW, Brooklyn Post 6984 where he served two terms as commander.

He is survived by dear friends Mary Lou Rollison of Millsboro and Cheryl and Wayne Storie of Columbia, Md.

A funeral service will be held at noon, Monday, June 24, at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, where friends may call after 11 a.m. Burial will follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro. Pastor Betty Jo Magee will officiate the services.
