Irene E. Robert, retired secretary

Mrs. Irene E. Robert, 94, of Dagsboro, passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2013.

Mrs. Robert was born May 3, 1919, in Manchester, N.H., to the late Henry and Ethana Tardif Bouffard. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Adrien L. Robert in 1978; a brother, Adrien Boufford; sister, Simone R. Proulx; son-in-law, Fred A. Lawhorn; and grandchildren, Danny W. Brown and Linda M. Brown.

Irene was employed by the Washington, D.C. Board of Education as a secretary for 20 years. She also was busy raising her five children and taking care of her husband and mother-in-law. She was a member of St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Church in Bethany Beach. She lived in Blackwater Village for 35 years where she served as secretary/treasurer of the Blackwater Village Association for eight years. She was a very upbeat person with a positive attitude. She liked to laugh and make other people laugh. She was an avid dancer and especially enjoyed polka, and loved to travel. She enjoyed spending time with family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by five children, Dolores Perticari and her husband Adolph of Dagsboro, Adrien L. Robert Jr. and wife Mary of Waldorf, Md., Raymond N. Robert and wife Adele of Gaithersburg, Md., Lorraine H. Lawhorn of Fredericksburg, Va., and Louise A. Brown and husband Tom of Mt. Jackson, Va.; sister, Lucille Therrien of Manchester; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends.

A celebration of life service for Irene will be located at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Oxen Hill, Md. at 10 a.m., Friday, June 28. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton, Md.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
