Millsboro woman charged with sixth DUI

June 24, 2013

A Millsboro woman, 59, was charged with her sixth driving under the influence offense after police say she fled from the scene of an accident June 21.

Deborah E. Pettyjohn was driving a Ford Ranger in the area of Plaza Drive in Long Neck at 4 p.m. when she struck another car after leaving McDonald's, said Cpl. Gary Fournier of the Delaware State Police.

Pettyjohn hit the driver's side of another vehicle and then fled the area, Fournier said.

The driver and passenger in the car hit were not injured, and they gave police registration information on Pettyjohn's pick-up truck; troopers went to Pettyjohn's home and saw the Ford Ranger with front end damage parked in the driveway, Fournier said.

Pettyjohn was charged with a sixth DUI, leaving the scene of a property collision accident, driving while suspended or revoked, failure to provide information at collision scene, failure to report a collision involving alcohol or drugs. She was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default off $6,250 cash.
