Children's Summer Theatre opens season with performances June 30 to July 5

June 27, 2013

The Rehoboth Summer Children’s Theatre opens the 2013 season with a full week of performances in Rehoboth and Lewes. The fun starts at 7 p.m., Sunday, June 30, with a performance of "The Wizard of Oz" at the Clear Space Theatre in downtown Rehoboth Beach. The program moves to Epworth United Methodist Church, just off Route 1, for "Robin Hood," at 7 p.m., Tuesday, July 2, and a reprise of "The Wizard of Oz" on at 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 3. Then it’s off to Lewes for "Jack and the Beanstalk" at 11 a.m., Friday, July 5, at Lewes Presbyterian Church.

Since 1982, RSCT has been delighting family audiences with imaginative, sparkling two-actor performances. In "The Wizard of Oz" Cassidy Dermott plays Dorothy and her partner Steve Seyfried plays everyone else. Brock Vickers joins Seyfried for "Robin Hood," and the roles are more evenly split as each plays seven different characters. Dermott and Vickers team up for "Jack and the Beanstalk," creating a total of 10 characters. Later in the summer, they will perform the Delaware premiere of "Millie and the Orange Dragon."

These four plays will rotate at the three locations through Aug. 27. There are shows every Sunday evening at 7 p.m. at the Clear Space Theatre, 20 Baltimore Ave., Rehoboth. Performances will take place at Epworth United Methodist Church, 19285 Holland Glade Road, Rehoboth on Tuesday evenings at 7 p.m. and Wednesday mornings at 11 a.m. The church is just off Route 1 between Seaside Outlets and Tomato Sunshine Market. The July 5  performance is at Lewes Presbyterian Church, 133 Kings Highway, across from the Zwaanendael Museum. The series will return to Lewes in August. There is convenient, free parking at Epworth and Lewes Presbyterian.

The complete summer schedule is posted at www.rehobothchildrenstheatre.org. Tickets to all shows are $10. They can be purchased by phone at 302-227-6766 or through the website.
