Serve the community with Lions Club

June 30, 2013

This week's cover story in Time Magazine, “How Service Can Save Us,” contains several illustrations of the benefits veterans have realized from being involved with volunteer projects. The rest of us can join in too. Its easy, its fun and just might change your life.

So how, you might ask, do we do this? I represent the Milton Lions Club. We, and there are several clubs in Delaware, are part of Lions International whose motto is “We Serve.” In Milton that might mean running the “Clipper Express” every Wednesday night in the summer. Or you could help us and other Lions Clubs in our area build handicapped ramps. If you like funnel cakes and lemonade, come on out and help us at the many places we have our concession trailer. Vision screening of elementary school children is another important part of us.

To drive this enterprise we must always renew, and in so doing strive to do it better than before. We need the creative energy of new ideas, and the dedication to make them real. If this sounds like you, come join us in a world of service.
