Karen E. Peck, enjoyed the beach

June 28, 2013

Karen E. Peck, 44, of the Breezewood community in Felton, formerly of Town Pointe in Dover, passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2013.

Born July 20, 1968, in Dover, Karen was, from earliest childhood, a wonderful, happy person who was the light of her family's life. She truly loved people (especially her beloved family!) and delighted in serving as a greeter to the many visitors arriving at her group residence, where she had lived for the past 18 years. Karen was active with the Easter Seals program in Dover and participated in many ARC outings and dances. She also attended worship services at several churches in the Dover area. In her youth, she was a member of the Brownie Troop headed by her mother, Joyce. Throughout her life, Karen especially enjoyed trips to the beach, particularly Bethany, which was her favorite.

Karen is survived by her mother, Joyce K. McCullough Peck of Magnolia; father and stepmother, Robert T. Peck Sr. and Sharon Russell Peck of Dagsboro; brother, Rob T. Peck Jr. and wife Paige of Rehoboth; niece, Dylan; nephew, Ebin; stepbrother, Victor J. Russell Jr. of Dagsboro; stepsister, Kathryn G. Ellis and husband Richard of Newark; and many extended family members, friends and caregivers, including all the special people at Breezewood whom she loved so dearly. Karen was the granddaughter of the late state Sen. Calvin R. McCullough and Charlotte McCullough.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, July 2, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where visitation will begin at noon. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to KenCrest Centers, 502 West Germantown Pike, Suite 200, Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462-1348; or to Easter Seals Kent County Center, 100 Enterprise Place, Suite 1, Dover, DE 19904-8202.
