Arthur E. Hardt, longtime pastor

Arthur E. Hardt, 99, of Bear, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at Arbors at New Castle.

Born in Falling Waters, W.Va., June 24, 1914, Arthur was the son of the late Howard and Lucy Hardt. A graduate of Central Bible Institute, Arthur was a pastor at numerous churches for 50 years. The family is most grateful to the staff at Arbors for their care and compassion during his stay.

Arthur is survived by two daughters, Sandra Patton (Robert) of Newark and Carol Brown of Long Neck; two sons, Arthur E. Hardt (Faye) of New Castle and John Hardt (Patricia) of Bear; five grandchildren, Brenda Yates, Susan Borcherding, Arthur Hardt III, Jennifer Burchard and Kristen Hardt; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Raymond Hardt (Carolyn); and two sisters, Peggy Hoover and Marie Firestone (Merle). He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58 years, Nancy Hardt.

A service honoring his life will be held at 11 a.m.,  Monday July 1, at Gracelawn Memorial Park Chapel, 2220 N. DuPont Pkwy., New Castle, with a visitation at the chapel beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at the cemetery.
