Margaret M. Pelesh, accomplished painter

Mrs. Margaret M. Pelesh of Lewes passed away Thursday, June 27, 2013.

Mrs. Pelesh was born April 4, 1923, in Kingston, Pa., to the late Andrew and Anna Olack. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters.

Margaret worked in New York City in the 1940s as a model, art director and administrator for Saks Fifth Avenue, Paul Wing Studios, and Powers and other agencies. She married her husband, Lawrence B. Pelesh, on Aug. 30, 1952, and raised two sons, Mark L. Pelesh and William L. Pelesh, of Washington, D.C. Margaret and her family lived in the New York city area, Pennsylvania, Virginia, California and Arizona, before retiring with her husband to Lewes in 1989.

In retirement, she took up painting as a hobby and won numerous awards for her art work. She was also a faithful member of All Saints' Episcopal Church, Rehoboth Beach.

She is survived by her husband, her sons, her daughter-in-law, Carole Sugarman, and her two grandchildren, Andrew and Anna Pelesh.

Funeral services will be held at noon, Monday, July 1, at St. George's Chapel, Harbeson, with burial following the service in All Saints' Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 200 Continental Drive, Suite 101, Newark, DE 19713.
