Ladybug Quilt Guild, chartered in Newark, announces the 2013 Diamond State Quilt Show. This event highlights more than 200 quilts made by talented quilters throughout the region.

The show is set for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 8; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday, Aug. 9;  and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 10, at the Delaware School for the Deaf, 630 E. Chestnut Hill Road (Route 4), Newark. Admission is $5.

Joyce Hughes is the show's featured artist, with many of her imaginative and award-winning quilts on display at the show. She shares her techniques for thread painting and fabric manipulation in both lectures and a full-day workshop at the Diamond State Quilt Show. Other classes and lectures are offered over the three days.

Demonstrations by local quilters in quilt-related topics are scheduled every hour during the show.

The Quilt Boutique offers items for sale made by members of Ladybug Quilt Guild. Items range from lap quilts to place mats, handbags, pin cushions and totes. The Second Time Around shop features used quilting accessories, books and patterns for sale.

There will also be a chance to win an Aubrey Baby Lock sewing machine, compliments of Hayes Sewing Center of Wilmington, the show's sponsor. Chances are $1. Door prizes will be awarded all three days.

The show will also feature numerous vendors from the Mid Atlantic Region.
