Lewes Boat Parade celebrates Fourth of July

Lewes' traditional Fourth of July boat parade cruised down the Lewes and Rehoboth Canal with 19 boats decked out with red, white and blue to celebrate America. Taking the grand prize was Capt. Michael Faust and his 34-foot Rampage named Chasin' Tail.

Mayor Jim Ford emceed the event as city council members Ted Becker, Fred Beaufait, Bonnie Osler and Dennis Reardon served as judges. Also joining the judges panel were Overfalls Foundation President Tracy Mulveny and Lewes Chamber of Commerce President Jen Joseph.

Capt. Sonny's The Big "E," a 16-foot Boston Whaler, earned first prize, while Boat With No Name captained by Colin Halvorson and Capt. Paul Bolno's There Again finished second and third, respectively.

The event was sponsored by the Lightship Overfalls Foundation and the Lewes Chamber of Commerce, and judging took place on the dock at The Wharf Restaurant.
