No ID on body found near Indian River Inlet
The state medical examiner has no ID on a body found July 5 floating near the Indian River Inlet. The body was found by boaters about 10:12 a.m. in the ocean north of the inlet, said Cpl. Gary Founier of the Delaware State Police.
Officers with the Delaware State Police and Fish and Wildlife brought the body to the U.S. Coast Guard Station where it was turned over to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, Fournier said. Jill Fredel, director of communications for the Delaware Department of Health and Social Services, said the death was ruled an accident but the medical examiner has not scientifically established identification of the body.
Swimmer Jeff King of Jordanville, N.Y., was reported missing June 29 after witnesses say he had difficulties swimming near the southeast Day Area Beach in the Delaware Seashore State Park.
Girl falls out of balcony in North Shores
A 2-year-old girl fell from a second-story balcony in North Shores July 5 and is receiving treatment at A.I. DuPont Children’s Hospital in Wilmington.
Delaware State Police Cpl. Gary Fournier said the girl’s parents were home when the child fell and no criminal investigation is underway. The family was visiting from Pennsylvania, Fournier said.
The incident occurred at 1:20 p.m.; the child was transported to Wilmington by helicopter. Fournier said the toddler is in stable condition.
Cape school board moves meeting time
The Cape Henlopen school board begins a new schedule Thursday, July 11, by meeting an hour earlier at 6 p.m. in the cafeteria of Cape Henlopen High School. The board will vote on a proposal to simulcast the Metropolitan Opera from the high school theater and discuss the Bible Literacy elective class request for the high school.
