Beebe, Mid Atlantic open new outpatient center and offices in Millsboro

July 16, 2013

More than 75 people dropped in for snacks, tours, conversation and free health screenings during the grand opening festivities in Millsboro for Beebe Medical Center’s new outpatient services and for the new physician offices of Mid-Atlantic Family Practice. The event was a true community one.

These new health services are conveniently located on Route 113 in Millsboro just south of the intersection with Route 24. They include Beebe Walk-In Care, Beebe Imaging and Beebe Lab Express at the front of the renovated building and the physician offices at the rear.

“This expansion of healthcare services to Millsboro marks a milestone for Beebe Medical Center in our effort to keep people healthy in Sussex County,” said Jeffrey M. Fried, FACHE, president and CEO of Beebe Medical Center. Fried welcomed all who were attending the event and acknowledged several people including local leaders Millsboro Vice Mayor John Thoroughgood and Town Manager Faye Lingo. “We are pleased that we can work together with Millsboro and Mid-Atlantic Family Practice to bring cost-effective health care to the community,” Fried said.

Family practitioner Jeffrey Heckert, MD, FAAFP, CEO of Mid-Atlantic Family Practice, noted the synergy between his group and the Beebe outpatient services.

“We saw an opportunity to bring much-needed medical services to Millsboro,” he said. Mid-Atlantic Family practice started on Route 24 in Lewes in 2004 with three physicians and will soon have 11 providers between the offices in Lewes and the new office in Millsboro. “We are glad to have been able to provide all these services through the collaboration with Beebe. It is so important to have a strong hospital in our community.”

Heckert recalled that the building was in need of repair when Mid-Atlantic found it. He thanked those who made the renovations possible including Artisan Bank, Moonlight Architecture and builders Ron and Donna Coffin.

No appointments are necessary for X-rays. Appointments are required for mammography and are generally available quite quickly.
