George G. Knight, loved his country

George G. Knight went home to be with the Lord Thursday, July 13, 2013.

Mr. Knight loved his country and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, having served during the Korean War. Over the years, he was employed by International Playtex, Burris Foods, and retired from Suburban Propane. He was a past member of First Baptist Church and Calvary Baptist Church, Georgetown. Grover was an avid Redskins and Orioles fan and enjoyed NASCAR races. He loved spending time with his family and reminiscing with his grandchildren about his truck driving days and time in the military.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Knight; his parents, Elwood Sr. and Mosena Knight; brothers, Allen and Donald Knight; sister, Kathryn Metheny; and cousin, Dolly Shinsky. Grover is survived by his brother, Elwood Knight Jr.; and three daughters, Patricia Smith and husband Arlen, of Georgetown, Cynthia Knight and her finance Larney Johnson of Milford, with whom he resided, and Diane Jenkins and husband Ray of Milford; five grandchildren, Jennifer Wright (John), Arlen Smith Jr. (Juanita), Courtney Connelly (Kris), Garrett Jenkins and Ashlyn Sammons (Adam); and six great-grandchildren, Carson and Addyson Wright, McKenzie and Reagan Smith, Madison Johnson and Tanner Sammons. Funeral Services will be held at noon, Monday, July 15, in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, where family and friends may call after 10 a.m. Interment will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.

The family would like to thank the overwhelming support provided by Christiana Visiting Nurses and the care of Vitas Hospice. Flowers accepted or contributions may be made to Christiana Visiting Nurses or Vitas Hospice.
