Dover Officers' Spouses Club seeks crafters, vendors for Nov. 2 annual show

Application deadline Aug. 31
July 17, 2013

The Dover Officers' Spouses' Club will celebrate the  30th anniversary of its annual craft show, which has been named Dover Officers’ Spouses Club Craft & Holiday Show in honor of the milestone event.

This fundraiser, the largest on the DOSC’s calendar every year, will be held Saturday, Nov. 2, at Delaware State Fairgrounds in Harrington.

The DOSC is seeking artisans and crafters who can offer the show’s cultivated customers everything from traditional handmade crafts, original artwork and and gourmet baked goods to the latest trends in jewelry and holiday décor. The DOSC carefully hand picks vendors through a juried process to assure variety, talent and quality.

Advertising space is also available on a first-come, first-served basis on postcards that are distributed to hundreds of business and civic locations throughout the Delmarva Peninsula. Outdoor billboards will advertise the annual event in two prominent Delaware locations on Routes 1 and 13.

Magazine and online advertisements have been placed to attract customers from the larger population centers in Delaware.

The DOSC is offering vendors and show goers the comfort and convenience of an indoor shopping venue in the fairgrounds' Dover and Exhibition halls.  Booths are available in 8-by-8-foot or 10-by-10-foot sizes, all with electric usage available.

Another vendor convenience is the use of PayPal services, which can be located at http://doverosc.com/craftshow/exhibitor-information/.  The DOSC has never charged a commission, allowing vendors to maximize their profit. The application deadline for this popular show is Saturday, Aug. 31; late fees will not exceed $50.

For overnight stay Friday, Nov. 1, there are two options available: dry camping sites at $30 per night at the fairgrounds and DOSC room blocks at The Fairfield Inn, North DuPont Highway, Dover, $99, group name DAFB Craft Show; The Hampton Inn , 1568 North DuPont Highway, Dover,$109, group name DAFB Craft Show; or MainStay Suites, 201 Stover Rd., Dover, $77, group name Dover AFB Craft Show.

As in years past, volunteer assistance on arrival and departure will be available to vendors.

Free parking with shuttle services will be available to all, as will be the all-day food court supplied and manned by Dover AFB squadron personnel on their own fundraising activities.

The Dover Officers’ Spouses Club is anticipating more than 100 artisans from more than eight states expected to attend this, the largest single-day craft show on the East Coast.

Last year’s show provided $23,000-plus, allowing the club to continue its 30-year history of donating to base, local and national charities and providing military dependent scholarships. Charitable beneficiaries included civilian and armed forces organizations and individuals.
