Dave Marshall Tennis hosts inaugural pro doubles tournament

July 20, 2013

Dave Marshall Tennis at the Plantations played host to the inaugural Big Fish Grill Tennis Tournament to benefit the Cancer Support Community and the Boys & Girls Club of Delaware. The three-day event featured a professional men's doubles tournament held July 12 and 13 and a round robin doubles competition open to all ages and skill levels held July 14.

The event also hosted a clinic featuring two-time doubles grand slam champion Ellis Ferreira, world-renowned doubles coach Dave MacPherson and three-time national champion Dave Marshall. At the Australian Open, Ferreira won the doubles title in 2000 and the mixed doubles title in 2001. He also reached the finals of the U.S. Open in both formats and made it as far as the quarterfinals at Wimbledon and the French Open.

MacPherson is most known for coaching the world's No. 1 doubles team of Bob and Mike Bryan. The Bryan brothers are the reigning champions at all four major tournaments and will seek a 2013 sweep at the U.S. Open later this summer.
