CAMP Rehoboth Chorus announces new season

'Oh! What a Night' performance set for Feb. 8
July 19, 2013

It's time to rock and roll. Led by music director Doug Yetter and accompanist David Zipse, the CAMP Rehoboth Chorus will begin rehearsals in early September for its winter concert, "Oh! What a Night…Back to the 50s and 60s." This concert will be all about fun, fun, fun with classic blasts from the past from the Jersey Boys, Motown, the Beach Boys and more. It will be performed at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at Epworth United Methodist Church, Rehoboth Beach.

In related news, the chorus has again been awarded a grant from the Delaware Division of the Arts. The favorable review the chorus received from the division's on-site evaluator at last season's concert thrilled chorus members and was a factor in the awarding of this year's grant. The evaluator noted that the music director is very strong and the artistic quality of the chorus is high. "The chorus can shine on its own," the evaluation read. The grant will be used to enhance the vocal and performance skills of chorus members and to fund chorus outreach programs.

Last season, the chorus had the good fortune to attract a large number of talented sopranos and altos. This year, members hope to also add more basses and tenors to the mix. Membership in the chorus is open to all - gay, straight, younger, older - and no audition is required. The chorus rehearses from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday evenings at the CAMP Rehoboth Community Center, 37 Baltimore Ave., Rehoboth Beach. There is an annual registration fee of $70 to help defray the cost of music and other expenses.
