Bicyclist injured in hit and run near Frankford

A bicyclist was airlifted to Christiana Medical Center after being struck by an unknown vehicle in a hit-and-run incident near Frankford July 16.

Wayne Thomas Blanks Jr., 38, of Baltimore was riding along the eastbound shoulder of Omar Road just west of West Road between Frankford and Clarksville about 6:40 a.m., when he was struck by the side mirror of a vehicle and thrown from his bicycle and into a wooded area. He is listed in fair condition.

The driver of the vehicle, also traveling eastbound, did not stop. No information on the make and model is known, police said. Blanks' bicycle was equipped with a flashing rear light.
