A 42-year-old Georgetown man faces criminal charges after police found 260 bags of heroin in his vehicle following a head-on collision July 16.

The accident occurred about 4:15 p.m. on Zoar Road, east of Morris Mill Road in Millsboro. Delaware State Police say Dwayne J. Karr was traveling eastbound in his 2005 Kia Sedona when he crossed the center line into the oncoming traffic lane. Zachary C. Ritter, 16, of Millsboro was approaching Karr's vehicle in the westbound lane and moved his 2003 Dodge Ram into the eastbound lane to avoid hitting Karr. However, Karr moved back into the eastbound lane and collided with Ritter's vehicle head on.

Karr was transported to Beebe Medical Center before being airlifted to Christiana Medical Center, where he is in fair condition.

Ritter was taken to Beebe, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Impairment appears to be a factor in the accident and charges are pending, police said. In addition to the drugs, police also found more than $1,500 in suspected drug proceeds in Karr's vehicle.

Troopers are continuing to investigate the accident.
