N.Y. man critical following motorcycle crash

A 28-year-old New York man is in critical condition following a motorcycle accident in Rehoboth Beach in the early morning hours of July 17.

Dennis M. Carley of East Meadow, N.Y., was driving a 2003 Harley Davidson motorcycle northbound on the section of Rehoboth Avenue Extended that parallels Route 1 about 1:35 a.m., when he failed to negotiate a slight curve in the road. Police said he struck a curb and was ejected from the bike.

Carley was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. He was airlifted to Christiana Medical Center.

The service road between Ames Drive and Hebron Road was closed for about three hours. The accident is still under investigation.
