Rehoboth parks meeting cancelled

The Rehoboth Beach Parks and Shade Tree Commission has cancelled its scheduled Monday, July 22 meeting. The meeting was cancelled due to a lack of agenda items.

Rehoboth board to meet July 22

The Rehoboth Beach Board of Adjustment will hear a variance request for 20 Baltimore Ave. at its 7 p.m., Monday, July 22 meet­ing, in the city commissioners’ room.

Gene Lankford, owner of Celebration Mall, is seeking a variance to allow parking on a lot he owns across the street for nine new rooms to be built at the mall.

Public to weigh in on Dewey receipts tax

Dewey Beach Town Council will meet at 6 p.m., Friday, July 19, at Dewey Beach Life Saving Station on Dagsworthy Avenue. Council will hold a public hear­ing to discuss a referendum on a possible gross receipts tax for businesses. After the hearing, council will discuss and possibly vote on the referendum.

Milton committee to discuss budget July 22

The Milton Finance Commit­tee will continue to discuss the budget at its meeting slated for 6 p.m., Monday, July 22, at the Milton Public Library. The group will review the town manag­er’s proposals for the operating and capital budgets. For more information, call town hall at 302-684-4110.

Milton charter committee to meet

The Milton Charter and Or­dinance Committee will meet at 6 p.m., Tuesday, July 23, at the Milton Public Library. The group will continue to review chapters 1-7 of the town charter.

Rehoboth Beach seeking evergreen tree to light up for holidays

Rehoboth Beach Main StreetInc. is searching for a 35­to 40-foot evergreen tree for its downtown Holiday Tree Light­ing and Hometown Sing-along at the Rehoboth Bandstand. Any­one who thinks they have the right tree and wishes to donate it, should call RBMS at 302-227-2772.

If someone’s tree is selected, arrangements will be made to have it taken down and trans­ported downtown.

The tree will be lit up at RBMS’s annual Holiday Tree Lighting and Hometown Sing­along on Friday, Nov. 29, at the Rehoboth Avenue Bandstand. The generous donor of the tree will receive special recogni­tion and be part of a Rehoboth tradition where hundreds of spectators witness the illumina­tion of the city’s most famous Christmas tree.

The Friday after Thanksgiving is a festive night in downtown Rehoboth Beach -- and it all starts with the right tree!
