American Red Cross presents A-Plus for Delmarva Award to Delmarva Power

July 25, 2013

The American Red Cross Delmarva Region recently presented Delmarva Power with the A-Plus for Delmarva Award, given to a company or organization that demonstrates continuous philanthropic commitment to the American Red Cross.

Delmarva Power has been a longtime supporter of the American Red Cross. Delmarva Power employees are involved as Red Cross volunteers on many different levels, such as Disaster Action Team members, serving on the development fundraising committee and as board members. When large-scale disaster operations are in progress, Delmarva Power has been a great partner in helping to communicate the Red Cross message to the community.

From organizing joint media tours to distributing company-wide alerts, Delmarva Power makes certain residents of the Delmarva Peninsula receive Red Cross safety and preparedness tips. Also during times of disaster, Delmarva Power has generously provided support in addition to its traditional annual giving.

“Delmarva Power has continued to provide significant resources so we may continue to support our mission objectives and our volunteers. Over the past year alone, Delmarva Power redirected a corporate asset of 1,050 Red Cross Preparedness Kits for use by the Red Cross in various community outreach initiatives. In addition, they included the Red Cross on pre- and post- Superstorm Sandy media tours to help share what the Red Cross was doing to prepare and then respond to the event. The partnership between the American Red Cross and Delmarva Power is invaluable, and we are extremely fortunate to work with the wonderful employees of Delmarva Power on so many levels,” said Patrick K. Delaney, regional executive, American Red Cross Delmarva Region.
