Businesses donate $2,500 to LRCIA
July 28, 2013

General Manager Michael Ludden and Director of Sales & Marketing Barbara Brewer of the Atlantic Sands Hotel & Conference Center at 101 N. Boardwalk in Rehoboth Beach, along with Mark Carter of Dogfish Head Craft Brewery, presented a check for $2,500 to Scott Thomas, representing the Lewes Rehoboth Canal Improvement Association July 19, atop the rooftop patio of the hotel overlooking Rehoboth Beach and the Atlantic Ocean.

The rooftop of the Atlantic Sands Hotel was the site of the collaborative fundraising effort, Up on the Roof, on July 4. A number of special Dogfish Head Craft Brewery seasonal ales, such as the refreshing peach-based neo Berliner Weisse Festina Peche and Positive Contact, a 9 percent ABV hybrid of beer and cider brewed with Fuji apples, roasted farro, a handful of cayenne peppers and a late dose of fresh cilantro, were served alongside nearly a dozen Atlantic Sands Hotel chef-inspired specially prepared foods such as elk brioche sliders with smoked gouda and a mushroom ragout or the goat cheese and pistachio-encrusted lamb lollipops.

Cathy Gorman provided entertainment, and attendees were treated to arguably the best seats in Rehoboth from which the Rehoboth, Dewey and Bethany Beach fireworks could be seen that evening.

The LRCIA is a 501c3 nonprofit organization, the mission of which is to improve the appearance and functionality of the Lewes-Rehoboth Canal corridor in order to best serve residents and visitors to the Cape Region.

Planned projects are intended to better connect both residents and visitors to such events and attractions as the Historic Lewes Farmers Market, the Rehoboth Beach Farmers Market, Rehoboth Beach Bandstand performances, the Rehoboth Art League, the Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk, historical sites and museums, and annual events such as the Sea Witch Festival and travel to Cape Henlopen State Park.
