Abbott’s Grill wins 2013 Wine Spectator Excellence Award

The wine list at Abbott’s Grill in Milford has received honors from premier wine magazine Wine Spectator. The restaurant was issued the Wine Spectator Excellence Award, which is given to restaurants that boast wine lists that “offer a well-chosen selection of quality producers, along with a thematic match to the menu in both price and style."

Abbott’s Grill owner and longtime chef Kevin Reading wanted his restaurant to have a wine list that not only he could be proud of, but one that would be just as creative as his cuisine. To do so, he enlisted the help of wine manager and connoisseur Bernard Knollinger, who made winning the award his personal goal.

“Since I’ve started working [at Abbott’s Grill] in September of 2010, I made it a personal challenge to help Kevin create a list that complements the menu with fun and interesting wines,” said Knollinger.

Abbott’s Grill is one of only two restaurants in Kent and Sussex counties to earn the accolade, with only nine being awarded throughout the entire state.
