Nanticoke Health Services is pleased to announce Elise Powell as its July Employee of the Month.  Elise first came to Nanticoke’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) as a Salisbury University student, doing an 8 week rotation as part of her senior year leadership class.  Nanticoke’s ICU staff quickly realized that she had an eye for detail, excellent critical thinking skills and was a quick learner. After her rotation, she left Nanticoke to pursue a career in pediatrics in Washington, DC. Two years later, Elise returned to Nanticoke for a position in ICU. She quickly adjusted to caring for adults, and established herself as a strong practitioner with sharp skills, very kind and caring with patients and families, and a wicked sense of humor.  Elise is currently working in ICU as the lead preceptor for incoming staff.

When returning to Nanticoke, Elise brought with her a background in the Cerner computer system, so she became one of the “Super Users” as the ICU IView clinical software was implemented.  She provided insight into the workflow groups, working extra hours to help facilitate a smooth transition to a new way of patient charting.  She remains a valuable resource for Nanticoke’s Cerner System work team.

When not working in the ICU, Elise enjoys her time with her husband and her dogs.  She has been known to hunt deer and one of her favorite places is the beach.
