James 'Jim' Pierce, Bronze Star recipient

James R. "Jim" Pierce, 96,  of Lewes, departed this life peacefully Thursday July 18, 2013, in Lewes. He was born in Washington, D.C. Oct. 26, 1916, son of the late Clarence and Mildred Keene Pierce.  He was also predeceased by his wife Vivian Tydings Pierce in 1997.

As a teenager he served as a page in the U. S. Senate. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II where he was a recipient of the Bronze Star. He retired from the Department of the Interior and completed his working life as a consultant for Arthur Young & Co.

Survivors include his son, James T. Pierce and wife Nancy; two grandchildren, Karen P. Mowlds and Michael J. Pierce; and five great grandchildren.

Entombment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
