July 30, 2013

Plein Air Painters of the Mid-Atlantic will present their first group Mid-Atlantic exhibit, Kent County en Plein Air, from Aug. 2 to Sept. 25 in the Holden Gallery of the Dover Art League. An opening reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, Aug. 2 during Dover's First Friday events.

This showcase Includes more than 45 paintings of local sites, a selection showing more than 12 Kent County locations painted by 15 PAPMA artists. These paintings are part of a total Delaware presentation of art created at 25 locations throughout Delaware from 2011-13.

PAPMA began in 2011 with four Kent County artists who had a desire to plein air paint in safe, secure and public locations. The group has gained momentum throughout the Delaware art community with more than 50 professional artists joining from Delaware and surrounding areas. PAPMA artists are now trekking through Delaware painting sites from the Delaware History Trail, www.visitdelaware.com/Delaware-history-trail/passport, working toward their 2014 Delaware Passport Exhibit.

Dover Art League is at 21 West Loockerman St., Dover.  Hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday to Saturday. For more information, call 302-674-0402. PAPMA coordinator Maria Liberto Bessette can be reached at 302-241-5919 or PleinAirPaintersMidAtlantic@groups.facebook.com.
