James VanAuken, machine operator

James L. VanAuken of Georgetown passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at the Delaware Hospice Center.

James was born in Milford, son of the late Vernon and Betty (Betts) VanAuken. He was a machine operator with the Seaford Dupont Nylon Plant for 29 years and had also worked for Justin Tanks. James enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a fan of the Baltimore Orioles baseball team. He especially loved supporting his daughter's softball teams and had coached many of her Little League teams over the years.

In addition to his parents, James is preceded in death by a sister, Donna Green. He is survived by two daughters, Holly VanAuken and Lacey Chism, both of Milford; and a sister, Kay McClenny of Georgetown.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, July 28, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, with visitation after noon. Burial will be in Union Cemetery.
