Two people riding a moped were injured July 31 when police say they ran into a car that pulled into their travel lane.
Hunter J. Bordley, 20, of Townsend was driving a 2009 Yamaha moped southbound on Route 1 at 11:30 a.m. in a special travel lane near Phillips Street when Shirley M. Supplee, 78, of Rehoboth Beach drove her 2007 Honda Accord into the moped's travel lane, said Master Cpl. Gary Fournier of the Delaware State Police.
The moped ran into the passenger side of the Accord, throwing Bordley and his passenger, Bethany M. Timmons, 20, of Middletown into the roadway, Fournier said.
Bordley and Timmons were taken to Beebe Medical Center where they were treated for nonlife-threatening injuries, Fournier said.
Traffic was affected for about an hour; no charges are expected, Fournier said.
